How does it work?

Insulation is fixed to the outside of the walls and a rendered finish is applied to weatherproof the exterior. A wide range of finishes can be applied in different colours and textures to give your property the right look. The use of EWI will dramatically reduce heat loss through the walls and can revitalise the appearance of your home.

Thermal imaging reveals heat loss of a house before and after EWI has been installed. Benefits include:

  • Thermal insulation keeps solid walls warm, condensation-free and protected from wind, rain and frost
  • System is fitted to meet individual house requirements with a choice of finishes
  • No loss of internal living space
  • Work can be carried out alongside other trades such as window replacement and re-roofing
  • As work is carried out to the outside walls, disruption to the household is minimised
  • A weatherproof, attractive and generally maintenance-free new exterior is provided as part of the thermal cladding of the building

An indicator of heat loss through a wall can be its U-Value, which you can read more about below.

U-Values explained

All construction materials are measured for how they conduct heat (Lambda value) and when various materials are used together, the overall thermal capacity of a wall is determined using a U-value – the lower the U-value, the more thermally-efficient the wall construction is.

U-values are calculated by taking into consideration the wall thickness and the materials it comprises of including render and insulation. A typical solid wall (9-inch brickwork) used in a Victorian property has a U-value of 2.1W/m2K, but after applying a webertherm EWI System, the thermal performance can be dramatically improved to achieve a U-value of 0.30W/m2K (the current target for building regulations in England) or below.

Which system is for you?

webertherm XP

The webertherm XP system uses a specially-designed mineral one coat render which can be pumped by machine making application fast and economical. Labour and scaffolding costs are significantly reduced and the disruption to the homeowner is minimised.

The resulting finish is low maintenance and available in 23 popular colours, and can be finished with a number of textures and features.
