Strood Academy, Medway Kent
Products in the extensive weberfloor range by Saint-Gobain Weber have been installed at the £29 million Strood Academy, a new secondary school in Medway, Kent. The Academy is providing outstanding facilities for pupils from September 2012 offering just 1500 places for which intake has been oversubscribed since 2009.
The design and build contractor, BAM Construction, together with The Progressive Group and Saint-Gobain Weber, devised the flooring system for this new build facility. Over 150 tonnes of weberfloor 4150 fine flow commercial screed has been installed achieving an economical solution for this large application area of over 13,000m². weberfloor 4150 fine flow is a standard drying, cement based screed for levelling and smoothing concrete substrates. It can be applied at thicknesses from 4 - 30mm and is ready for foot traffic in 2 - 4 hours allowing fast and convenient access for other trades. It is ready to receive a final floor covering in 1 - 3 weeks following installation.
Saint-Gobain Weber flooring products are used extensively throughout many of these projects and to date over 300,000m² of weberfloor 4150 fine flow commercial screed has been successfully installed in educational, healthcare and commercial sectors making it one of the company's most popular flooring products.
Tony Cooney, estimating manager, The Progressive Group, reports: "We are always happy to use Saint-Gobain Weber flooring systems as they have unrivalled quality and a wide product choice.
