How to achieve a dry dash render finish

How to achieve dry dash finish

Dry dash render finish — also known as a pebble dash finish — is traditionally chosen to provide a tough and long-lasting external facade in high exposure areas. A range of modern decorative aggregates are available to build a truly bespoke design.

For applying onto masonry

weberend one coat dash is a through-coloured one coat dash receiver which can be applied onto various types of masonry including blockwork, brickwork, and concrete.

Renders are not adhesives and therefore require a substrate with good suction and key to ensure good adhesion. If you are applying onto either of the following, further considerations apply:

  • Brickwork without recessed mortar joints
  • Concrete

In these circumstances, application of a stipple coat — also known as a key coat — such as weberend aid is required. Use our guide on rendering onto surfaces with poor key to learn how to do this. Once suitable key has been achieved, it is possible to apply weberend one coat dash – check the product page for more information and application tutorial.

How it's done

Dry dash is applied using a harling trowel and aggregates are thrown against recently-applied dash receiver.

Colours & decorative aggregates

The choice is yours when it comes to different types of dry dash finishes, weberend one coat dash is available in five popular colours (White, Cream, Buff, Stone Grey, and Graphite) and can be paired with a choice of 16 decorative aggregates (also known as dry dash chips).

Things to consider

weberend one coat dash cannot be used on render carrier board or insulation board. There are alternative options available, so please contact us to discuss your requirements.
