BES 6001 - Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products
In line with Saint-Gobain’s purpose of ‘Making the World a Better Home’ and Weber UK & Ireland’s drive towards carbon net zero by 2050, we are proud to announce we have achieved BES 6001 certification for our render and flooring ranges, completing one of our key sustainability targets for 2023.
BES 6001 is the framework standard for the Responsible Sourcing of Construction Products and is demonstrated through efficient and considerate supply chain and product management that embraces social, economic and environmental factors. It tackles areas including stakeholder engagement, sustainable procurement, labour practices and the management of supply chains providing materials for production. The certificate also benefits specifiers by securing additional credits in green building certification schemes, including BREEAM.
Gaining this accreditation demonstrates to our customers that we have appropriate organisational governance, supply chain management and the right controls over environmental and social aspects to ensure the responsible sourcing of the raw materials that go into our manufacturing processes. We were assessed after providing considerable evidence and completing two audits at our Telford and Flitwick sites, achieving a performance rating of “good”
The accreditation was achieved after a real team effort over eighteen months involving our Quality Assurance and Purchasing departments, with support during the final audits from colleagues onsite at Telford and Flitwick, and from the Saint-Gobain Sustainable Procurement team. A big thank you to all involved in helping us achieve this certification.
