Every day is a learning day.

Weber recently welcomed a class of MSc students to Flitwick to learn about supply chain management and research & development processes in a manufacturing environment.

Dr. LakshmiNarasimhan Chari, professor at Royal Holloway University of London approached Weber about a potential visit.  Dr. Chari was looking for a manufacturing company with a strong worldwide presence where product development and innovation were of key importance.

Dr. Chari collaborated with Stewart Nicholas, Operations Director at Weber to arrange the visit which offered a full itinerary across the operation and development departments at Flitwick.

The students were introduced to Saint-Gobain and its 350+ year history and the company’s purpose and aspirations to make the world a better home.

“We found it extremely useful and valuable as it reinforced the concepts we have learned in college.”

The busy agenda included a tour of the R&D laboratory and manufacturing facility to help their understanding of the supply chain process from raw materials entry to final production and the various challenges that need to be considered along the way.

Dr. Chari responded to what he described as warm and welcoming hospitality, “I am sure our students will remember this event for life, a special thank you to the team who patiently answered all of our questions!”, one student commented, “we found it extremely useful and valuable as it reinforced the concepts we have learned in college.”
