EWI for two shortlisted projects in RIAI awards 2018
Two projects shortlisted in the RIAI Irish Architects Awards 2018 feature high performance External Wall Insulation manufactured by Saint-Gobain Weber
Now in its 29th year the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) Architectural Awards Public Choice Category are the most prestigious of their kind in Ireland. They celebrate the quality of current work by RIAI members at home and abroad and create awareness of the contribution that architects make to society for everyone’s benefit.
The shortlisted projects include the exceptional Dorset Point student housing in Dublin. Designed by Henry J Lyons, Dublin, Dorset Point is home to 447 students and offers state of the art facilities. The other project is One Microsoft Place, designed by RKD Architects, an award-winning international design group based in Dublin. This 34,000sqm campus has been constructed at a cost of £134m and houses close to 2,000 staff. The building marks another step in Microsoft’s cultural shift and features an LED waterfall and digital lake, an indoor mountain and a ‘DreamSpace’.
Both projects feature webertherm XM external wall insulation, which is BBA and NSAI Agrement accredited. It is a lightweight system protected by meshcloth reinforced polymer renders and provides exceptional levels of thermal insulation. It is ideal for refurbishment and new build projects and can be used with a variety of insulation types and construction systems, and finished with a wide range of decorative render finishes and choice of colours.
“Saint-Gobain Weber is proud to be associated with both of these innovative and exemplary projects and send sincere congratulations to the property owners and the designers for being shortlisted in this prestigious Award,” says Tracey Dempster, head of marketing, Saint-Gobain Weber.
