Weber Introduces Rainwater Harvesting at Flitwick and Telford sites
Weber has taken another step toward sustainability with the introduction of rainwater harvesting systems at its Flitwick and Telford sites. This initiative, funded through the Saint-Gobain Carbon Fund, is part of our commitment to reducing environmental impact and supporting our journey to net zero carbon.
The Carbon Fund was launched in 2021 to accelerate Saint-Gobain’s ambition of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. It focuses on reducing non-process CO₂ emissions, and Weber’s winning project stood out for its practical approach to water conservation. By capturing and reusing rainwater, we’re not only reducing mains water consumption but also cutting the indirect emissions associated with water treatment and supply.
Since June 2025, we’ve been measuring the impact of these systems, and the results speak for themselves. So far, we’ve collected and used 254m³ of rainwater to feed toilets and urinals across both sites. That’s water saved from the mains supply, reducing demand on local resources and helping us lower our environmental footprint. Combined with water flow restrictors installed on toilets and sinks, this project is expected to save around 700m³ of water annually.
Why does this matter? The UK receives an average of over 1000mm of rainfall each year. Harnessing this natural resource makes sense, especially as water scarcity becomes an increasing concern due to climate change. Every litre we save helps protect our environment and supports our ambition to Make the World a Better Home.
This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the dedication of our teams. From the initial idea to the final implementation, colleagues across Weber worked together to make it happen. Their efforts secured Carbon Fund support, enabling us to invest in the technology and infrastructure needed for success.
Looking ahead, this project is more than a one-off win. It’s a model for future initiatives that combine practical solutions with environmental responsibility. By continuing to innovate and share ideas, we can keep driving progress toward sustainability - one step at a time.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project and to those who voted for our Carbon Fund submission. Your support has made a real difference, and together, we’re proving that small actions can lead to big results.
