The judging panel reviewing the entries chose Weber for the Training Award  “for the continuous commitment to improving training in the sector”.    Rob Speke, Technical Academy Manager at Weber explained “We understand how important training is for the future of the construction industry, and we have worked hard to bring our Elite College scheme online, making sure trainers and students are learning about new technologies and best practices in the world of EWI and Renders.”

Weber believe training is a roots down process and have built partnerships with a number of colleges across the UK supplying material and support to train the next generation of construction professionals.  This includes twice yearly educational sessions with students at the partner college facilities to introduce External Wall Insulation, its benefits and best practice installation.  Weber also offers instruction for lecturers and supports them with information and technical help to assist in the delivery of teaching following the formal train-the-trainer course. Weber are currently in ten formal partnerships with colleges across the UK

The Saint-Gobain Technical Academy in Flitwick has purpose designed practical areas and offer scheduled courses and can provide bespoke training sessions on request. Check out our scheduled courses available here.

The second award of the night went to weberend LAC rapid which was recognised in the Innovation category as a game changer in the EWI market.  Released in 2018, the rapid setting adhesive coat saves applicators 72 hours on site due to the super-fast drying characteristics as well as removing the need for priming.  Kelvin Green, Facades Product Manager, who collected the award on behalf of Weber explains… “So what this means for our customers is that construction projects will be finished much sooner so reducing the time of busy and experienced applicators on site; they’ll see significant savings in expensive construction kit such as scaffolding and heavy equipment, and collectively making valuable project efficiencies, faster completion and subsequent payments.”

weberend LAC rapid is similar in texture and weight to the original product.  It is polymer modified for high bond strength and achieves a smooth finish quickly and economically.  weberend LAC rapid is white, rather than the grey of weberend LAC, presenting yet another benefit of a colour neutral base in preparation for receiving the decorative finish without the use of a primer.  The new formulation of weberend LAC rapid makes it ideal for winter working as its quick setting capacity helps to reduce the impact of long periods of low temperatures and wet conditions.  For more info on this innovative new addition to the range.
