The Keepers at Matfen Hall Hotel
Tiling that is right on the tee!
Matfen Hall is located in Northumberland, west of Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and was bought by the Walwick Estate Group in 2020. It has since undergone a multi-million pound renovation and recently won the Best Renovated Hotel in Europe in Condé Nast Johansens Awards.
The entire hotel has been renovated to a 5-star luxury standard, and the next stage was the refurbishment of The Keepers golf clubhouse.
The main contractor, DP Builders Ltd, appointed tiling specialist W Rodgerson & Sons (WRS) – with whom they have worked for over 20 years – to provide the new tiling, and together with Incognito Interiors and Seam Architecture & Design the team collaborated with the owners to select the right tiles to fit with their vision and match the hotel’s heritage.
When it came to applying the tiles, WRS specified Weber products, and having worked with them for more than 10 years, the team knew they would be ideal for meeting the high-quality and performance standards suited to the golf club. weberset rapid SPF adhesive and weberfloor flex self smoothing screed were used to level the floors and fix in excess of 500m2 of tiling across the golf club, including full tiling throughout the changing facilities and WC’s - many of which have striking feature walls. The 1200x1200mm large format tiles were fixed to the entire ground floor using weberset SPF tile adhesive with the addition of weber AD250 to improve flexibility further.
